Data Link - Message in a Bottle

Data Link is a voluntary scheme aimed at reassuring the household that essential information is readily available to the Emergency Services,
should an accident, sudden illness or break-in occur. The scheme ensures that vital information is available not only to identify you, but also to
advise of any relevant illnesses, allergies, medication and contact addresses.

There are currently over 20,000 of these bottles in circulation throughout the Greater Peterborough area

How Does It Work ?

The idea is simple -

Fill in the form with your personal details (these include your allergies, blood group, photo, doctor, emergency contacts, etc).

Pop the form in the bottle and place the bottle in the fridge door.

Put the sticker on the inside of your front door (this makes it impossible to see from outside the house).

This alerts the emergency services to the presence of your details, thus saving valuable minutes.

The police will be able to contact you should there be a break-in, and Fire and Ambulance crews will know what treatment you are able, and not able to
have.

THE DETAILS CONTAINED WITHIN THE BOTTLE COULD AND HAS SAVED LIVES.

Instructions:- Fill in the Data Link form with a ball point pen. Each member of the house will have to fill in a form. Photocopy the original if
necessary. Each form must have a passport photograph so you can be recognised.

Fold the form lengthways in half and then in half again (concertina style). Turn and continue to fold concertina style and place in the container. A
maximum of four sheets will fit into a Data Link bottle.

Place the Data Link bottle into a fridge door compartment so it can be easily found by the emergency services. Placing the bottle in the fridge
will also prevent it from being damaged in a fire.

Place the Data Link sticker onto the fridge door so the emergency services know you are a member. You will also need to stick a label to the inside of
the front door so it is clearly visible. This means it is not visible from the outside.

Why the fridge ?

Most household have a fridge, but are you aware that a fridge is one of the few item that rarely gets destroyed in a fire ?

By putting the bottle in the fridge, you are not only securing the contents but are alerting the Emergency Services to it's presence and location.
