is seeking to appoint a PARISH CLERK AND RESPONSIBLE FINANCIAL OFFICER. The Parish of Orton Waterville is an extensive urban parish lying in the South West of the Peterborough unitary authority area. Included within the parish boundaries are the Ortons Waterville, Brimbles, Wistow, Southgate, Northgate, Goldhay (part of) and the East of England showground and a substantial part of Ferry Meadows park. The population is approximately 10,500. The Council is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic person to fill the post of Parish Clerk and RFO. It is anticipated that the role will be filled by a person working from their home. The Council has a burial ground, three allotment sites, a play area and other open spaces. The Parish Council is the holding trustee for the Waterville village hall but this is run by management trustees. Ideally applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have experience in administration and finance. Preferably they should have a working knowledge of local government law and procedures, or show they have the potential and willingness to learn with training. Unless already qualified the successful applicant will be expected to study for and obtain the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA). Hours of work are nominally 20 per week, including evening meetings, although the nature of the role means that flexibility is essential as the hours will vary from week to week. Salary will be in accordance with SCP scales and the scale point will be agreed according to the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
